Below is a copy of an email I have just sent out to the local radio and press in Telford. Whilst I discuss my experience here in telford, I just hope it maybe of use to others in other areas.

I will be happy to share my experience if anyone has questions or if anyone would like to share their experience.

I have had to think long and hard about this, but if my experience can help others, I feel I have a moral duty to share it.

M-Cat – Meow in being used in Telford

It is unfortunate that this “Legal High” can be easily purchased, it can be easily purchased online using a debit card or pre-paid debit card. The online sales are generating considerable profits for the seller with one couple recently stating that expect to sell in excess of £200k worth of the drug this year, and its legal.

Whilst parents may read about this and find some comfort in the fact that the unfortunate deaths of two teenagers are miles away from home or think the county is a very large place, the truth is M-Cat – Meow is in use in Telford.

Who would think of sending plant feed through their vanes, up their nose, rub it on their gums or smoke it through a bong. As a parent, I find it difficult to know who finds this out, then promote the use of it.

As a parent in Telford, I must strongly advise that parents talk to their children about the adverse affects of drugs and this “legal High”, it not only affects the user, but it also has an adverse affect on the family of the user.

I have recently discovered one of my children is now a regular user of this life destroying drug and unfortunately, as little is known about it or little is even said about it, you may only see the signs retrospectively.

Money and jewellery went missing from the house, but never enough to 100% confirm a theft, it was always enough for you to think,

“Did I just misplace that jewellery”

“I must have miss counted the money in my wallet”

Looking back on it, I can now see the signs,

* not Sleeping
*Nose bleeds
*Extreme anger
*A yellow tinge to the skin, then going very white
*The extreme lies

Then the smell, but you could never find the source of this horrid smell that sticks to every piece of furniture and clothing and takes great effort to get rid of. We finally found the source, it cam from the attack, I also found various legally purchased drug equipment hidden behind a false panel.

But when the user is approached and you have evidence in your hand, the drugs and the equipment are all the property of someone else. I was hiding them for Fred, Bill, Harry or they left them behind after staying over.
Then you point out, they have never stayed here or even been in the house, but even if they had, why would they hide all this behind a false panel.

Their memory becomes affected and in some cases, they can’t remember what they said just moments ago, they the anger and abuse comes out.

The user, will and can become addicted very quickly, but you cannot help a person who’s mind has become a mush, the ability to reason has gone and their education is now being flushed down the pan.

What next for the user, assuming they don’t kill themselves first, I can only see the future bringing,

*blaming everyone else for their addiction
*the inability to create effective relationships with others
*a life of lies where they will use anyone to get what they want
*failing at college, which has already started
*regularly attending mosh-ups
*a life of crime

Then as the parent, the thought that so many will say, it must be your fault. Well it isn’t.

The user becomes extremely devious and seem plausible in what they do, where they go and who they are with, but its an act, a series of lies that would fool any accomplished actor.

My advice to any parent is, speak with your children, speak with your family, if you suspect any drug use, search in every nook and cranny in your home from the attic to the cellar.

If the user can admit they have an addiction or the possibility of an addiction, there is some hope from then on in, but if they admit drug use, but cannot admit there is a problem and will not accept help from anyone, you, as a parent have very few options open to you.

I had to cut ties with one child because of this drug addiction, they would not accept help, they would not admit they had a problem, but I had to stop the influence on to my other children, all of whom had started to live in fear of the addict and what they would become next.

They really do become a Jekyll and Hyde.
