I'm thinking about setting up a new website, something that is community based but to try and cover as much of the UK as is possible.

I have a few loose ideas in my head and have already approached a few hosting providers but have always been let down.

Can anyone recommend an affordable and reliable website hoster.

hi john, in what way did the others let you down?

I always use uk-cheapest.co.uk, cheap reliable, fast, they`re now using a new cpanel which allows multiple domains. ,co.uk domains under £10 2 years, hosting 1 year about £20.

Been using them for a few year very very happy. Downside, a bit slow on the support sometimes wait 24hr for a reply, but hardly ever needed to contact them. i,e no problems.

Very generous bandwidth space mysql etc etc. wouldn`t use anything else now.

Dont go near 34sp.com to expensive, charge for extra mysql db`s rippoff!,

for free hosting if your preprared for the odd downtime a few minuted hear and there and can do without outgoing mail?, (essential for a forum though) freehostia offer no ads free hosting with all the usual space bandwidth mysql php and so on. Sometimes a bit slow but to start a website off untill it gets going is quite a good thing.

Thanks for that admin, the local companies I approached gave the relevant info on costings etc, when I accepted and tried to get an account set up, nothing ever happened, so i've had to look further afield. Naturally I wanted to support local companies by using local providers, but they just did nothing, some never returned emails or telephone calls.

I'll get in contact with cheaphost

Thank you
