I have worked since i was 15 years old. After leaving my husband 11 yrs ago (who gave up his job so he didn't have to pay for his children & he has claimed benefit's to this day)  with two small children and still worked and funded their nursery places for both of them. When on to do nvq's to better my career. After having a really bad fall @ work in jan 2010 and ended up on the sick since in  may 2010. Since i have been on ssp i am fighting to get help to pay my rent/council tax and my bills. My income has less than halved and in six weeks time ssp will stop and still unfit to go back to work at the moment the benefit i will receive will be less again. Still having a 16 yr old living @ home & only with a Saturday job and looking so hard for a full time job. Who i still have to provide for because 16 yr old's can't get any help from the state.
Watching your programme this morning has left me spitting feathers and in utter anger, that people who have never worked and get more money than i earn a month and work 38 hours plus for!
I feel that people who stand on their own two feet are spat on and laughed at and given the short straw in this country. It's so unfair and makes people like me think and feel whats the point?Huh??

I watched Benefit Britain on 24th September and it made my blood boil. I work and take home just under £800 a month and receive £86 every four weeks in tax credits. I have to full pay rent and council tax and by the time I've paid out all my other bills I am left with about £30 for food etc each week. It's about time the benefit system was completely changed. Perhaps benefits could be paid in vouchers and people in long-term unemployment do community work in order to claim their money. Well done Jeremy Kyle for exposing the scroungers.  Smiley
